Published Date: 10 October 2008
From: Mr P H Metson, Valley Mount, Harrogate.
ASHLEY Marshall’s report (October 3) 'leafy streets under threat' is too late for the many large trees felled during September in Harrogate 'for safety reasons' or as in April 2001 'the trees had signs of decay', re the Royal Baths redevelopment site; and again when a row of magnificent (but inconvenient) trees was felled in front of the refurbished Crown Hotel.

Many mature trees could benefit from some judicious pruning, or even lopping instead of felling.
